Carolyn Jessop's THE ESCAPE

Last night, I finished the book “The Escape” by Carolyn Jessop with Laura Palmer. The book is about the life of Carolyn Jessop who was born, raised, got married & had eight kids in a radical polygamist cult – Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS).

After the raid in Texas ranch of the said church & the ongoing custody battle of 416 children, it encouraged me to purchase this book & check the life of Carolyn.

I started reading it last Saturday & honestly, I can’t stop reading it. Per page gives unbelievable story that you would never think of that it is happening in America & in this era. I do admire Carolyn’s attitude toward such weird lifestyle & courage of ending this horrible life for her 8 kids. I felt nothing as compared on the trials she went thru.

Name Game

Since we already found out the gender of my baby, my hubby & I are starting to think of the best name for him. Actually, we’re still debating how many names we are going to include for this little boy. Like our little girl Yoanna, her real name is – Franchesca Yoanna Faye. When we started fixing our legal papers, specifically our move from Phils to USA, we then encountered the disadvantages of having a long name. So, I’m almost or about to give way on my hubby’s request to have this little boy two names only.

As per suggestion of our family, Manuel will include in his name. It’s the name of my hubby’s grandfather & Manuel sounds nice, although it’s a common name. I’m now thinking of a

How far will you go?

My brother, MGA seems fully recovered from his face surgery last month in the Philippines. His latest pictures show how good looking he is with his new chin & thinner face. He had chin augmentation & facial lipo when he had his 20-days vacation last month. I was really hesitant for this surgery because I wasn’t sure if he has enough days up to the recovery stage.

Getting OLD!

One Sunday afternoon, I was in the mood of taking some gray hair in my husband’s head. I saw him standing in our toilet & having a hard time taking those gray hairs from his head, so I told him to lie down in our sofa & I’ll do it. Since, NBA game was about to start so he find that my suggestion was great.

He was lying on the sofa, with his head on my lap & I started to look for those gray hairs. Well, my husband is on his late 30s & he’s so anxious when some gray hairs show in his head. I spread his hair to look for a nice spot that has a lot of gray hairs & got started!

Pregnancy Update: 19 Weeks

Fetal Development

The baby weighs about 8.5 ounces & measure 6 inches from head to bottom. The arms & legs are in the right proportions to each other & the rest of the body. Kidneys continue to make urine. The urine is excreted into amniotic sac, which surrounds & protects the baby. The hair on the scalp is sprouting. That baby’s brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision & touch. At the baby’s hearing continues to improve, he/she may pick up your voice in conversations. Although it’s probably hard to hear clearly through the amniotic fluid & protective paste covering the baby’s ears.

Another San Diego Visit

Next month, which is few days from now, my hubby, told me that we will visit San Diego again. I knew that we will be visiting San Diego again but I never knew when that is since my husband’s work is quietly demanding in schedule. So, when I heard that it will be by next month I truly felt excitement! I’m so looking forward for so many things in San Diego.

Fully Potty Train in 3 Days!

Recently, my hubby & I finally decided what school Yoanna will attend to by the month of August. We chose this Sacred Heart School in Phoenix against 2 more pre-schools (day care center) we found in the area as well. We decided for this school not just simply it’s a catholic school, but also in reference of some observations we had during the school visit. One, we observed that per class, one teacher has 6-10 students which we find it very helpful for Yoanna to learn from their activities. Two, their classroom are arranged more in school type instead of having too much toys & lesser desks. Three, tuition fee is affordable.

Tag Messages: What are they really for?!

As far as I know, I didn’t receive any tag message for this week. Instead, I’ll take this opportunity to explain my side about these tag messages – what are they really for?

One fellow blogger, actually a good friend of mine, asked me this question. When I told her that she already has 2 tag messages from me & she hasn’t done any of these two. Instead she asked me this question.

Honestly, I was also in the same impression as hers when I received notice from other bloggers that I have tag messages from them. For so many months, it’s just recently that I started doing this tag message. Because it’s just recently that I realized, how important it is to get acquainted with fellow blogger, especially those whose blogs are in the same niche as yours.

A Way to Remember

Another thing that really amazed me in living here in USA is that how people are so much attached to their pets. I just admire them on how they take good care their dogs & cats, to the most that they also maintain certain lifestyles for their best friends. I will never forget suck one weekend when we watched a dog competition here in Phoenix. One dog owner told me that she tried to maintain certain level of caring in order to keep her dog somewhat special compared to others.
