You’ve seen my previous post “Becoming Cabin Crew“?
Now, that we have a hint where to start in this aviation career, this post will give you an idea how such airline conducts their recruitment procedure.
In behalf of my brother-MGA, we want to give you an overview how he was able to reach the training period of Emirates Airlines. If you’re eyeing for this airline, then this will be a good guide for your future application.
Emirates Airlines conducts mass hiring in selected country. Since, Emirates is from UAE, they’re mostly conducting mass hiring in their nearby countries like Bahrain. As frequent as twice a year they are having this schedule of recruitment. They are usually posting it in the local newspaper or on their website.
If you already have a target date to attend on their mass hiring, then it is advisable to fill-up the on-line application form Emirates. Be sure to have your detailed resume & family information with you upon filling-up this form, because this will require a lot of information. Anyway, if you missed certain info, you can update your data from time to time. You just need to remember your application number (account information – email & password). If you pass the entire application process, you will be using this filled-up form too.
Preparation for the Selection Date…
Appearance – Pleasing personality is one of the requirements for the position of
cabin crew. It is an advantage if you will show yourself in a very neat & pleasing appearance on that day. As much as possible you shouldn’t have that much pimples in your face & you’re arms should be free from allergies or scars. For girls, apply some make-up on your face. Don’t wear too heavy make-up. Just apply some colors on your face that you will feel comfortable & beautiful as well. Tie your hair as if you’re already a flight attendant. For boys, have a haircut on the day before the selection date. You need to be careful as well in choosing the accessories that you’re going to use – accessories from shoes to jewelries. This LINK will give you more précised information in choosing the right attire for the big day. As for me, nothing goes wrong in aligning your personal appearance into two words – NEAT & PROFESSIONAL. Remember, first impression lasts!
These are some important things Mark considered upon the preparation for the recruitment day;
1 – Got a hair cut the day before the recruitment date.
2 – Prepare the suit. Find the right color combination of Polo & neck tie.
(Tip: Light colors give a light impression to the dresser.)
3 – Clean the face. Shave mustache if necessary. Have a concealer that perfectly matches the color of your face. This will be a great help in covering dark spots on the face. For men, asked somebody to teach you how to apply concealer on your face.
4 – Visit a dentist & clean the teeth on the day before the selection date.
(Tip: It always feels good to smile, when you knew that you have white & clean teeth.)
5 – Clean your fingernails.
Documents – Emirates will ask you to submit resume (with passport picture), passport copy & whole body picture on the selection date. Now, with these pictures, it is also an advantage if you will set a specific date for yourself to have a nice photo shoot. Well, digital picture might be a great help in some point but don’t edit the picture that much. For the whole body picture, you should wear as if you’re going to their selection day itself. Do not make an unusual pose on the picture. Just stand straight, relax & smile.
The resume must emphasize that you are capable for cabin crew’s major responsibility – high standard of customer service. Like the impression you want to set on the recruitment day, the resume should go along with that too.
This is the format what Mark did in his resume. He specified his major responsibilities in his job details & his achievements as well. Since you’re applying for flight attendant position, then, responsibility & achievements should have connections with the flight attendants’ duties & responsibilities.
Research & Study – Many of us presents ourselves in a job application event without “proper” preparation. MGA & I have been in job haunting experience for so many times & we realized how important it is to do certain preparation beyond a normal one.
When MGA, got a schedule for this Emirates Selection Day, we took time to searched some important information in the net that we felt would be needed. Well, it’s not really hard to analyze what would be needed on the selection day (or in any particular job application event). This list has been our guide every time we’re doing this process;
1 – Company’s basic information – This includes certain information on the history, core values & mission/vision. Know the idea, how this company performs in its industry. In such way, if they will ask you in the interview about your career objective/goal, you can in-line it in the company’s future objective too. Remember, companies will hire for someone who they feel will be a better contributor on their team.
2 – Details on the position you’re applying to – This, I may say the most important one. This is usually the subject in the job interview procedure. So, as an applicant, it is better if you fully understand the duties/responsibilities of the job position that you’re eyeing for. You may also want to include an idea of the salary range for that position. Most of the companies include in their questionnaire the salary range an applicant is looking for, & most of the times applicants where confused on how to deal in this question. It is better if you we’re able to gather an idea for the salary. In that way, if they will throw you a question regarding this, you know where to start your negotiation.
3 – Sample of interview Questions - Internet has been the most powerful tool when you’re looking for certain information. Just includes these words in the search engine – SAMPLE, INTERVIEW QUESTION (specifically for that JOB POSITION) – & holla! You’ll definitely find a link that will lead you on those questionnaires. Print it, read, study the questions /answers & finally, PRACTICE!
I found a perfect site for the aviation career – ALWAS BE PREPARED FOR INTERVIEW . This was just MGA’s reference as he prepares himself for the Emirates’ selection day. With regards to Emirates information, we just refer to their EMIRATES GROUP CAREERS site.

I have applied for emirates for more than 10 times i go to the interview and i fail, i have a problem with the group discussion, but this is my dream to be a cabin crew with emirates family.. what should i do? any advise ?
hi emmy!
welcome to “THE JOURNEY”
with regards to your concern, im quite confused on your question. At what stage you received a goodbye note? on the stage of group discussion? but you mention there about interview..is that the final interview?
anyway, did you checked my post “Becoming EMIRATES Cabin Crew- Selection Day”? I mentioned there that according to MGA, during the group discussion, an applicant should learn how to deliver his/her own opinion nicely without offending other’s opinion. But this not necessarily means you just need to get along with other’s opinion, its better if some cases you’re opinion is different from others.
i hope this enlighten you in some way..
regards!

Now, i do not mean any offence to this crew. But he is not exactly slim. Now, I am not going to be predujice or whatever but if youre thinking “oh I weigh x and I cant lose x”…this shows they hire a wide range of people. Ek mainly look for quality, their personality not their looks.
Sorry…
hi anne i want to be cabin crew for only emirates, u know this is my first and last wish befroe i die belive me now i have problem that my education is only 12 but also dont have a background of like related field but im lookin fare and also good in english but u know tell me if i will join the emirates crew traning college then it wil be helpful for me ???

Hi Annie! Just wanna tell you that I got the final approval email this morning for a Jan joining date! thanks so much for all your help. Your blog has really been a source of valuable information. Now that I have hurdled over the application process, can you share with me how the first few months are like? I bet ill get super homesick so how do newbies cope?
hi my name is abhrojyoti karmakar from india………and i have been try to work for emirates for 2 years ….but failed .
I have applied several times through internet but no reply.
can any one help me to be a cabincrew with emirates
Yep Annie. Emirates do not discriminate. Just recieved a damn big email from my cousin who is nearly in his 3 week of training. He is loving it and mentions he has lots of home-based assignments. Nice apprtments blocks but too much traffic. If anyone has questions, I can put them to him like Annie to MGA regarding training. Annie – what was MGS’s prelim. flight on Graduation day?
Thanks Anways
hi annie, i got the job for EK, i fly in december, im really worried about money though, i herd some people saying take at least £1000 for the first couple months, i was wondering how much of your own personal money you wud need for the first few months or does the wage emirates pay tie you over ok. i will want to buy bits and bobs for my room, a couple cushions a throw for the bed and hopefully have 1 or 2 nights out a week but will i need £1000 for this. please please help
EK Provide all well most of the furnitatre-y stuff for your. They apparently also give you a start pack, including ironing board, cutlery, dinner sets, starter food pack. Also, if you have an old hand appt mate chances are you have lots of stuff like TV’s,Toaster blah. My cousin took around a grand, however Emirates will provide you with 2500Dhs when you arrive, but 2000 will be deducted in the first couple months wages’.
Hope it helps.
P.S: Its easy to blow everything in Dubai Nightlife. LOL-My cousin can’t drink alcohol or go to nightclubs so he’s saving all the pennies for a shopping spree in Carrefour!!!!!!!
hi annie! u got a very great page here! hereby,i would like to ask u couple of questions. i’ve made tru de finals for EK,and right now,i would like to know what they provide and wht should i bring there?opun arrival, will they give us some money?where do we stay?Is MGA ur hubby? pls reply! thanks a lot!(reply to my email)
I think I can reply to some of that.
MGA is Annie’s Brother not husband!
You get given appartments plotted around Dubai, you will find out once you arrive. Usually on Sheikh Zayed Road. They tend to be modern ones and yiu have to share them with 1 or 2 people, same sex due to Islamic Laws, similar nationality. My cousin is with a Business Class crew.
They give you DHS2500, of which 2000 will be minus-ed in your first couple of wages. Take essentials, take a camera if possible, take what you think is a neccisaty and would take if were moving house to another country. 50kg is the limit. On PPRUNE members reckon you should take 1000GBP.
Thanks!
thanks alot for the replies!~
hi annie n ahmed!
don’t mind telling me,what do they meant by (04photo with the size of 3×3.5CMs? what do they want? formal attire or casual?) to submit it once arrive in Dubai.like head to toe or just half body? hope u able to answer my question! Thank u so much!
sorry! missed out (background colour)? is it in blue or any?
i want to be a part of emirates but i think its my bad luck that i couldnt get work in emirates
Have youi been employed by Emirates or are going to an open day?
If they have accepted you, you need 24 sky blue background pics.
Annie will explain more…won’t you Mrs…!
How you doing matey- Wahey you reached your 10,000 mark *hint hint*!!!muhaha
Many Many Congratulations on your wedding, and pass my congrats to the Mr and Yoanna” xXx
Nads- Do not give up…that’s all I can say.
hi miss annie, could you please give me your email add? meh ssabihin po sna me sau about this career, eh mejo personal kse.. =) tnx po!
what should i wear on an open day interview? a business attire or anything casual?
business attire..like what i’ve said in BECOMING EMIRATES CABIN CREW – PART I Apprearance is one factor..Either your applying in Emirates or in any other job application / company.. being Neat & Proffesional will always make you different from other applicants.
Hi Annie
How are you
This blog looks very helpful, I am new to this blog. I just wanted to ask you a question.
If you have been recently married and have been accepted into emirates as a cabin crew what would be ALL the options available to us in terms of accomodation? Does emirates support you in terms of finance, or is it half-half or can your partner live with you in the apartments?
Would marriage be an issue?
Would it be a problem that you are married.
Hey
Thank you so much for your prompt response, really appreciate it.
I guess in general I want to know if you want to apply to live outside with your spouse for obvious reasons if Emirates will pay accommodation allowance for me at least in terms of the rent & etc… if so how much approx?
I was informed Emirates even do that for singles if they decide to live outside the Emirates facilities. ( I don’t know why you would if your single) hehe I want to know if this is true?
I just want to know my options in terms of accommodation if living with spouse.
Married life wouldn’t affect my career it will be more difficult but this has been a dream of my since I was a little girl and I am fully ready for it! My spouse is very supportive and we both love Dubai!
By the way are there other crews that are married? it will be interesting to know how they have settled into Dubai?
If you can tell us anything else in regards to accommodation please do so as we are confused!
All the best, Take Care
Can I also ask another question, I am aware that you don’t get flying time till you finish your training which means you are only paid your base salary for couple of months, so does this mean from the third month you should be getting your full salary, base+flying time?
also I was told we fly 70-80 hrs a month approx? That’s not much…how is that calculated. Is this true? doesn’t that make you sort of part-time….depending on your rosters ofcoarse.
oh yea can you explain what “Layovers are” how they work. so sorry for all the questions but I guess that’s why this blog is here to help us all!
yeah thanks, it would be good if you could find out from him, also about the salary as well mentioned on the top.
Cheers
Sara
I heve’nt experience in the airline because I was studying university ;;;
the third context and last I Can to complete the studies in the College of Aviation commanders and work together, and what graduation certificate _ I am particularly devoted economy .
Thank you ………WAIT
This was the culprit. It took me awhile to find out that this post alone along with all of its comments are too much for the importer to handle.
But we got it!!!

Hi,
I’m currently staying here in Dubai, and I’ve heard that there are walk-in interviews where you could drop your resume in Dnata every Sunday. Is this true? I plan to go on Sunday, and if so, should I talk a lot and sell my skills to the interviewer? Do they still hire male cabin crew? Thanks in advance!

Salamat!

hello,
i was one of the candidates for emirates final interview BUT i was not the lucky few to get it.Anyhow, they sent me a notice sayin that i can apply again in a year’s time.So what happens if I try again before than period of time ? What are the consequences..?
hi sandy,
if Emirates informed you, when to re-apply..just follow it..otherwise they will not accept your application if you re-apply earlier…
thats what the company is doing..its a standard procedure..
ideally, while waiting for the re-apply date work on those things that you think you failed during previous application & be prepared on the next one..
goodluck!

hi annie,
MARU’s last blog post..Bituin Ang Itawag Mo Sa Akin
hi maru,
salamat po sa pagdalaw..gusto ko man panindigan yung comment mo kaso..hindi po ako dating FA..nangarap lang maging FA..hehehe..yung kapatid kong lalaki ang nasa Emirates ngayon..
thanks!

Hi Annie,
I have attended numerous assessment dates of EK here in Manila and as it turned out, I always get a goodbye note every after group discussion. I have tried several tack ticks on how to pass that level, from not sharing your thoughts to expressing your thoughts and even tried just giving out A single idea about the topic…name it I’ve tried it. Even the advices that you posted here. I have not graduated college, worked with an international contact service company as CSR, and even managed the operations of a certain resort in the visayas. Despite the customer service background that I have (I have that pleasing personality [as what most of the people that I meet said]and have always had that smile on my face), still I am not successful. I tried EY as well but their affiliate manpower agency told me that it is a strict policy with them to only short list those who have attained a diploma in college(graduate). Its just too fraustrating. What else can I do to be able to get in? I am now having my training with International Air Transport Association (IATA) Training and Development Institute in Singapore for “Airline Cabin Crew Training” hoping that it will help me getting the job. If you have any other inputs, please…please…let me know. Thank you….
hi…
i just forwarded a reply on this inquiry to your email..
you may also want to check my recent post..
Always Goodbye Note
goodluck!

With regards to selection day in different countries, i think you can check it in EMirates official site..although i’m planning to include that here in my blog as well.
be sure to subscribe in this blog, so you can receive update of my posts direct to your inbox.
goodluck..
cheers!
Can someone please tell me how much is the meal allowance when you have an overnight stay in another country??
thanks
Hi Dana..
Meal allowance differs depending on what country your flight is..
dear dana as a married woman i want to apply as a cabin crew for emirates airline, this question occures to me : can i share teh accomodation which emirates will give me with my husband or not?
and i wanna apply online for it whats the following process?
your kind reply owuld be appriciated..
sanaz
Hi Sanaz..
As far as I know..there’s no airline who allows their Cabin Crew staff to let their husband/wife stay in their accommodation..
Others, grab the deal of moving outside the accommodation & just have the housing allowance from their airline like Emirates.
Apply online for cabin crew? You just need to fill-up the online application form..
thanks for posting your questions..
cheers!
Annie
Dear Annie,
Thanks for your helpful reply, but I’m confused that Will Emirates pay the amount of money that I need for hire ar rent a house to settle in or I should handle it my own?
I appreciate alot for your guidance.
Sincerely, Sanaz
Hi sanaz..
its a Standard Operation Procedure in any airline, if their staff decides not to stay in the accommodation provided they were given a specific housing allowance instead.
If you want to learn more about this matter, you can call Emirates for more of your inquiries.
are u already in with Emirates?
cheers!
annie
hi, i m chaouki
i saw on a previous comment that u need pictures for the selection i didn t see that on the email that i received from ek…..
can u please confirm me if i have to bring them?
Hi chaouki..
yes, there are some EK Selection Day that bringing pictures was not stated in the invitation email.
but some applicants still submitted resume with pictures as it’s a normal thing on applying for a job. Thats what my brother MGA did.
its up to you..if you want to bring or not..
thanks & goodluck..
cheers!
Dear annie :
I really appriciate your useful page.It is extremly great.
this is the third time that I write for you. your kind answer would be
appriciated again….:)
In EMIRATEs group careers Web there is no vacancy for cabincrew right now, but there are some dates such as open dates and global assessment in July and Aug. what are these? I read that you should apply then we inform you with an email to interview. but there is no vacancies. pls guide me that apply or not and tell me that all the travel and visa and hotel expenses would be met by Emirates or myown?
Thanksssssssss again
Hi Sanaz..
YOu may apply for Cabin Crew Assistant..i think that’s a new position available now in EMirates.
Second thing, if you’re planning to attend any Open day on other country..VIsa & hotel will be your expense ..Emirates will not shoulder any expense unless you pass the final selection. You’re time to move in Dubai & start training..
goodluck..
cheers!
thanks for the tips. i was invited for the second assesment date on aug. wish me luck. can you give me tips on how i can cruise through the process?

p/s:there are few applicants who r fluent in eng n gd at giving opinions n they did not make it to 2nd round which is screening stage.. its pretty surprise huh?

Hi Sanaz,
Honestly, im kinda confused as well with your application.
Although what i’m thinking is that, if you want to attend in any of the open days maybe you can send your application by the specified direct link on your chosen region. I don’t see any harm on doing that. But on the other side, maybe Emirates will evaluate your application if you’re good in any of their Assessment day..
Yeah, better call Emirates about this one..You can contact them in

Cabin Crew Recruitment Admin.
goodluck in your application..looking forward for a good news
cheers!
HI Eve..
I know how hard it is to pass the Emirates application, thats why we’re just so thankful that my brother, MGA was able to get in..in his first attempt.
Anyway, you can still re-apply. First attempt may not be that good but you were able to learn something from that experience.
Group discussion, doesn’t only measure the fluency of applicants in English language. Rather it tests that applicant’s personality & level of thinking. I’m not saying that those who failed weren’t smart enough to handle certain discussion, but EK have certain requirements that they’re looking for & it will only show on how the applicants deal in certain issues with other fellow applicants.
Try it again..there’s no harm in trying..
goodluck!
Hi eve..
just consider that fact that you were able to pass the first stage & was able to reach the group discussion. I knew a lot of aspiring cabin crew whose smart looking & really have good personality but first stage, they received goodbye note..
like what I’ve said, first attempt is a learning process..try it again..
cheers!
Eve, which location did you attend the assestment yesterday?
Dana,
it’s in Malaysia..
hey all, sorry dat i’ve wasted few columns by repeating the same msg .. =.=|| sorry guys !
Annie,
Ya i’ll try it again in coming Nov. But now its July.. Only 3 months ++ left.. And i was given a note saying i can apply after 6 months.. should i apply on coming Nov?? (because I met the staff from the recruitment agency at there as she told me i can try to apply again this Nov.. )
Hi Eve,
if they tell you so..then go ahead..but be sure to ask them you will not going to have any problem with EMirates about that..
if it’s just an agency staff (meaning not really employed under emirates) remind him/her that you were told to reapply after certain period of time – in advice by EMirates.
if they say its totally fine..& you’re ready for the second round..then go ahead..
goodluck!
its ok EVe..
i wish to attend an open day for EK can you please tell me where is emirates event held on the 29th July in manchester?
Hi Jasmine,
The Assessment in Manchester on Jul 29 is by appointment.
please refer to my post JULY 2008: EMIRATES GLOBAL ASSESSMENT & OPEN DAYS in this link

hi annie,
i must say your’s is quite a comprehensive account for us job seekers.. thanks!! by the way, there’s an open recruitment day on the 26th of aug down at where i’m staying. are they really particular about the candidate’s height weight ratio(cabin crew)? i’m not scrawny but i’m rather on the lean side.
to be honest i’m underweight
and spectacled. so are my spectacles going to be a problem?
Hi Abhi,
Thanks for appreciating this blog. Anyway, about the height issue..to tell you honestly a lot of people has been asking about that details & i realized i really to create a separate post that discuss this..
we all know that the height requirement of Emirates is 212cms. now with the height/weight relationship, you might want to check the BMI accpetable in my post EMIRATES’ SUMMARY OF MEDICAL STANDARDS from this link;
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=776
goodluck! looking forward for a good news from you..
cheers!
hi Annie,
I had an interview with G.R Company. After 1st interview, they called me again for final interview. That day I met Airline consultant of their company & he advised to gain some knowledge for C/C.
According to them am eligible for C/C but i have to gain some knowledge.so am doen C/C course through their Institute.
I would like to know what are da basic requirements for C/C?? I want to judge myself. And What are da basic package for C/C in Ek or any other Airline??
Thank you
Hi Annie
I would like to know when they measure height is it with shoes or without shoes is allowed to reach 212cm on your tiptoes? If it with shoes what’s the minmum height of the heel could be worn? Please advise. Many Thanks
Dil
Hi Hassan,
you can check Emirates’ official site for the requirement, thru this link
http://www.emiratesgroupcareers.com/
athough you can find some helpful posts in the 5th category of this blog , thru this site..
http://annie-thejourney.com/?cat=10
goodluck…
Hi Dil,
The 212cm test is being done with shoes on.
speaking of the heel size, well you can observe how high is the heels of those working cabin crews. meaning ,don’t wear to high shoes..Emirates recruiter will noticed that you simply wore them to pass the 212 cm test..
goodluck..
Hello,
I went in for the interview 2 weeks ago and they required us to take off our shoes to reach the poster. So it’s not with shoes on.
really?! they’ve changed? what country is that open day?
anyway, thanks for posting such info..ill take note of that.
cheers!
oh yes Annie, going in I thought I can keep my shoes on,but we all took them off. The location was in New York City.
Also Annie, I have a more detailed question..if you are able to answer it,that would be great..
For the yearly bonus check,do you know by when you must be an employee in order to get the bonus check for the first year of employment?
Some companies, for example, you must start working by December 31 in order to get the bonus check..other companies will give you a percentage for the time you were working.
Anyway you can get this information as to when someone must start working in order to get the bonus check the first year?
A smiliar question has to do with the yearly pay increase,do you know if you must be working a certain time in order to get that increase?
example, you start work on January,,the pay increases take place in March, will you be eligible for that pay increase since you only worked couple years, or you must wait until the next year?
I know these are detailed questions, but any insite would be appreciated,
Thanks lovely Annie:)
Dana
Hi Dana..
I will forward your question to our EK Cabin Crew friends.
I hope we will get a response from them soon.
cheers!
Thank you so much Annie. You’ve been a great help:)
Welcome Dana..i just hope we will receive response from them soon!
Not a problem…i’ll be patient lol
since the questions are more detailed and probably need to get the answer from the Human Resources Dept.
Hi Dana,
got a reply from Toby- http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=332
according to him..
You must be in the company 6 months before the bonus. So you must join before or on 30 Sep. Pay rise will be given regardless of what date you join.
i hope this answers your question..
cheers!
Hi … Ive been accepted and gave in my medicals…how long do they take to reply…its already been a week…and i m a bit scared coz of my notice period…i dont want to resign b4 they tell me to do so!
Hi Nicole,
well, you sound like my brother MGA too when he was still on such period.
If Emirates staff told you that you should hear from them after a week & that already passes without any words from them…you can double check in their HR Recruitment Department the update of your application.
During MGA’s period, its almost 2 weeks already & we didn’t hear from them..he was already disappointed that he failed but nothing wrong with his medical. so we call them ..good thing we call them, one staff told us that somebody overlooked his paper & there’s nothing wrong with his papers.
You can read more of this thru this post;
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=276
cheers!
Fantastic! thanks for checking for me:))))
Is there anyway I can push for more answers (bare with me plz) lol
What month does the pay rise occur in?
and is the bonus paid in march of every year, or what month?
Thaaaaaaaaaaanks a bunch Annie:)
Dana
Hi Dana…
as what To by said ..pay rise depends on the date you join the company.
ill try to get more info on this..
cheers!
Hii
I got some information about the pay rise and would like to share.
Salary review will be conducted on May 1st of each year and you will be eligible if you have completed 4 months and 1 day of continuous service before May 1st of the year you join.
Thanks,
Dana
thanks for that info Dana..keep it up!
your so welcome Annie, and thank you for all your help too:)
Hi again:)
do you know on average how many hours of flying time per month?
is it a min of 80 and max of 120 hours?
Thanks,
Dana
Hi Dana..
in reference of current EK Cabin Crew..there are instances that they tend to reach 100 hours per month. But this should not be allow in reference of the general cabin crew word guidance but EK crew itself love this opportunity since they tend to receive bigger allowances at the end of the month.
This matter was mentioned in my old post – Salary, Flying Pay & Layover, that can be found thru this link..
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=124
cheers!
Hi…
Can somebody help me please? I would like to join the assessment day in Houston which takes a place on 20th of September, I booked a place but I am not sure how it works? I clicked on the link for the Houston assessment day and then I put my information filled the form etc. I think that’s how it works. But I thought they contact with you to invite you for the assessment days/open days, But I haven’t heard from them yet. I just want to make sure how it works? DOes somebody have any idea? I was checking it with my friends and she told me that I just need to go there (it’s like a seminar-the open days) and then you meet with the recruitment team then they decided to have an interview with you or not? Is that how it is? Please help mee, pleaseee…Thansk so much..
Hi Nly,
It’s a Global Assessment Day that’s about to happen in Texas on Sept . 20 ..
As noted in my recent post;
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=1004
(which is also in reference of Emirates official website)
Global Assessment Days
Interviews are by appointment only. Apply on-line by clicking on the destination link below. Alternatively, forward your application via mail to: Emirates Airline, Emirates Cabin Crew Recruitment, P.O.Box 34211, Dubai, UAE
It’s either you apply online or mail your resume to Emirates Dubai office & wait for the invitation.
Since it’s just few days from now, you can call Emirates Recruitment Department to double check your online application & verify if you have invitation on the said date..
goodluck!
Hello Annie,
is there anyway you can ask someone already employed, maybe MGA, about how much was the salary increase they recieved thier first year in May for both the FLYING RATE and BASE PAY??
and about how much was the bonus?
Thanks soooooooo much,
Dana
hi there!! really frustrated right now… Im filipino but im here in united states. kasalukuyang hinihintay maging american citizen. im tourism grad. in phil. but i have a big problem.
*my passport expired january 2008… having a hard time getting one, may bago na kase, electronic na (sosyal na) hahaha!! and since electronic you need appearance. im from ohio and need to travel to new york or washington,.. do you think i can still apply online even if i put expired passport?????
*and since im on process to become a citizen here i need to wait sa review nila..im here fo 3 yrs. no exact date na binigay =( im paranoid right now i dont know want to do!!! =’( cant wait to apply!!!!
So proud to see filipino doing this!!!! you help a lot!!!! wink so proud!!!
hi there!
I am a half filapino and proud!!!
Have been accepted for Emirates and currently live in NZ, Have submitted my medicals and have 1 day to hand in my notice to current job and waiting to hear back.
These blogs have been very useful and comforting that its just not me going through the anticipation!!
Hope i get that final confirmation soon
xx Ilyn
So I have sent in my application and am waiting to hear back. My boyfriend and I are hoping to relocate together, he does architecture and is excited about how much work there is for him in Dubai. My question is we are planning on getting married before we move and was wondering if anyone knew how much the housing allowance was if you don’t live with another Flight Attendant?? Just wanted to get an idea of how much we can budget a month for a place to live. Thanks so much in advance!
Jen
jing,
it’s totally OK to apply even though you have an expired passport. A lot of people have expired passports and dont think to renew it until they need to travel, so Emirates understand that. Once you have been selected, they will advise you to renew your passport at that time.
Thanks,
Dana
Hi Dana..thanks for this..
Jing, I’m so sorry for not responding to your inquiry immediately…
Hi Jen..
so far i don’t have any idea on that housing allowance, since most of the EK crew i know is staying on the company’s provided flat..
Hi Ilyn…looking forward for your good news..cheers!
Hi!
Im about to go for my first interview as cabin crew for emirates in a months time. However my only concern is this. I am married and have read in different internet forums that married females do not make it through the interview process because they are married. I was devastated when i found out. Please tell me this is not true!!
am I wasting my time just because im married??
P.S: My husband and i can accomodate ourselves when we get there IF i make it, so im not concerned about that I can make sure i am not of any extra charge to the company :\
hi aylin,
married applicants are very much welcome in Emirates.
in fact during MGA’s selection day, there was one applicant whose married & she also went thru the final interview stage..
in the first place aylin, emirates will not invite you to attend interview if they don’t accept married applicants.. both parties are just wasting their time, if that’s true..
Hi
I just had my final interview with emirates and I am waiting for the golden call. We were about 17 left for the final one of one interview. Do you know how many they usually take at that stage?
I want this job so much!!!!!
Also at the training at the emirates aviation college, how is a typical day? is it like like a 9 hours day 5 days per week?
thanks!
Hello im just wondering if you could give me some sort of an idea as to what you have to write in the english test and the maths test? are you limited to how many words you can write i know you are timed. I have my interview with the emirates in 2 weeks what kind of research do you have to study for i know its the back ground on the company what else do i need to know that will help me im very nervous, i hoep you can help me.
HI ANNIE & DANA,
thanks for the reply!!!!! Im going to NY for the open day assesment next week NOV.2. after i sent my resume, emirates e-mail me back after a week…but im so confused because i passed my resume on the 16th of nov. which is by invitation but they want me to come on the 2nd of their open day… so my question is after the open day and you passed, is that mean the selection day is the day after ??????? im confused because i dont know how long im gonna stay in NY and i can’t stay too long coz im still working…. ^_^….. thanks so much!!!!
jing!!!!
Hi Kelly,
from my experience, the english test had a question and you had to write a full page response to it. Ofcourse they will change the question but their goal is to test your english writing, not really if the answer is wrong or right because its an opinion question so you can’t be judge on What you write, but How you write it.
The math test had basic math questions, such as fractions, algebra, beginers math that you most likely took in highschool. If its been awhile for you, you might want to open a basic math book for review.
Don’t over stress yourself about the test though, they really care alot about personalities.
Dana
I’m assuming that they scheduled you for the invitation slot on Nov 16th, however they still would like you to attend the Nov 2 open day because they go over alot of material about the position and Emirate. That information will be useful for you to decide if this is something for you so that you can for sure make it to the Nov 16th..and alot of questions you might have can be answered on the 2nd before the interview on the 16th.
This is just my assumption as how it happened with me. You might want to email them and ask if its absolutly neccessary for you to attend the open house since you already have a interview apt on the 16th and do not want to travel twice in 1 month.
Good Luck
Dana
Hi,
I wanna try being a flight attendant, I shaved my hair off can i still apply as a cabin crew? or they only hire men with full grown hair..
Thanks!
hi ollie..
try it..hair is not listed on the restriction of EMirates.. also, i haven’t heard any applicant being declined because of this situation..
goodluck!
Hi Ms Annie,
I wasn’t able to attend the interview in Shanghai last Nov 8 since I just received the interview invitation last Nov 6.
Shanghai is too far frm where I am staying now and need to take a plane to be there..Do u think I can attend in Hongkong if any interview will be conducted there in future?
Do you also have their interview schedules for 2009?
Thanks a lot & GodBless.
hi there, u r doing a great job in informing aspring flight attendant like me.do emirates cabin crew recruitment accept application by their postal address?? is it acceptable as it is acceptable to apply online?
hi ! just done with my final interview with emirates airlines. I did well with the interview but the only problem i have now is due to stress , my pimple pump out 2days before my interview.. BIG ONEs! one in the foreheap(visible) one on my chin…do u think this will affect the final result ?hehehe..
hello annie!
right now,im still waiting if for ipams’ confirmation email for dec.13th’s assessment day.. i was told that they would be checking if slots are still available.. then, a friend (now an emirates cabin crew) told me that they were told that emirates will no longer be hiring filipino citizens for the cbin crew position. how true is this? im really worried since employers come here every other month and since they’re comin on december, that probably would be the last? can you help me know if this is true? thank you.
Hi, – first of all thanks for the very informative information you are sharing. second, I went through the whole itnerview process and now just waiting to hear from them. It has been over three weeks, but nobody had heard from Emirates that went through the process with me (over 20 applicants). I have a good feeling however and thought I did very well. I will probably have to do the medical examination… could you please post what that entails and is it also some dental information etc…? I just had some bloodwork done in advance and it states that I am non-immune for Hep B, but I just got the vaccanation, so I will send it to them as proof that I just got it… do you think that will affect my chances…
As I said, I feel very good about my chances, but very stressful waiting sooo long… what is the reason for this long period of waiting and processing applications?
Thanks again, and I enjoyed reading everythings on this page, even as I was going through the interview process…
all the best!
If recruiters didn’t ask you about these pimples, then there’s a possibility that it’s not a “big deal”…usually, if a certain applicant usually has what it takes to be a cabin crew but few pimples in face..they still consider..pimples can be treated, it can disappear after sometime but finding someone that totally fits in teir requirement is indeed a tough job..goodluck!
this is the first time heard about this..and i find it “too much”..i mean, way far for Emirates. I don’t think this is true..My brother MGA didn’t mention this, although he mentioned to me that emirates prefer Filipinos on their new job position – Cabin Crew Assistant.
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=1044
Believe..until Emirates release official statement
long wait is indeed part of this Emirates application procedure. i know is tough..but that’s how they system goes…
it must have been hard to find right people that qualifies for international standard of service..
with regards to medical, check this link..
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=776
Thanks Annie for the reply. I keep checking your site very often, it is kind of therapeutic for me, especially with this long wait.
Today is the fifth week since the final interview and still nobody got contacted of the applicants who went with me through to the final interview.
Do you know if they will call or e-mail? Because of the time difference from Dubai to Canada, I assume they would e-mail.
Thanks again. I know I have great chances of getting the job, but still, waiting is really a killer. I know everybody goes through it, but can test the most patient.
All the best, and look forward to a reply,
Ryan

what shall i do guyz..???
i need this job..i wana break the rotine am living withhhh…
hello annie,
finally im attending the assessment on dec 13th, i just received an email from ipams agency here in Phl. i just thought of at least letting you know where im at as a sign of appreciation for this very beautiful site. ive been so paranoid for the last few months and annoying as well and now im really working hard in preparing for this saturday’s assessment. im quite nervous but im more of excited though. when i confirmed my attendance with the agency, i was told that only 60 of us will be attending on that day. the preliminary screening was really tough, i did my best to be what they wanted their applicants to look like and tried to be as smart as i can during the initial interview. please wish me the best of luck. by the way i was given the outline of what to expect on saturday so please let me share it to everybody.
What to expect:
1) A video presentation on Dubai, UAE, Emirates Airline and the job as a Cabin Crew.
2) An orientation about the host country – UAE, about the company – Emirates Airline, employment package and other information.
3) Q&A to give candidates time to ask questions and clarify matters regarding employment with Emirates Airline.
4) Stage 1 – Reach Test to determine if a candidate can reach the required height (212 cms.) of the Overhead Bin of the aircraft, including physical assessment where teeth, skin, and weight will be observed.
5) Self-Introduction and Group Discussion (Communication Skills and Interpersonal Skills).
6) Selection of candidates for the Stage 2 – English Proficiency Test
7) Selection of candidates who passed the English test for the Stage 3 – Group Dynamics (Listening & Decision-making Skills)
Selection of candidates who will be scheduled for the panel interview within 2 days, including personality test.
so were you just emailed today? i mean 8th of december? my cousin is hoping for that job opportunity as well..
remember that the company is a fan of “men of few words”..but make sure your words actually means something.. hehe.. most important is your listening skills plus following directions..
nope. i got it nov 20th..good luck to your cousin.
Hi ANNIE!!!Nice to c dis blog……..can u tell me how many days will it take to gt da contract papers n medical details once receiving da confirmation dat u hav been selected…….
Hello Annie,
Could you please tell me if you/your brother know if there are older applicants applying to EK ? I’m 42 — but look much younger !! I do not have previous FA experience, but many years with customer service in the tourism industry. I am american and speak french fluently. Thanks, S
Hi Annie! Sorry i probally have posted this but I can not find it…anyway. So is there maths on the exam? Is it just general times tabels and divison and money sums? or is it algerbra and all that silly useless stuff. And would it be ok to apply for two airlines at a time. And what happens if i was to get into both and i decided to turn one down. Cya
MGA told me its just a basic math..my brother was not a graduate of a engineering course & hate math subject from his elementary up to college days..still he was able to pass the exam..hope you got what i’m trying to say..goodluck!
Hi Shari! Emirates Career Website didn’t mentioned any maximum age for applicants..I myself I’ve seen some applicants during MGA’s selection day process that are a little bit older but still fit to become a cabin crew. If you think, you have it then try it..THere’s no harm in trying..goodluck!
i remember during MGA”s period..its just within that week..
good point crewng crewng…
hi annie.. i was wondering my height is 163cm. am i still eligible for the cabin crew position coz i’ve seen in the website about 212cm? also i have applied other positions as well, will that affect th reapplication in case i didn’t make it? i have 4 yrs experience in customer service and in technical support. i really want this job and people around me have been telling that i won’t make it. can you give me an honest opinion about this. i would really appreciate it, thanks!
212 cm, means that’s the minimum reach you need to have in order to qualify in this application. Even if your 163cm, but you can reach 212cm(including shoes) well you have good chance to continue your application.
there’s no harm on trying.. you can keep your application secret on those people who don’t believe in your capacity. in that case, you will have complete focus on the said application.
goodluck!
Thanks alot Annie. I feel much better now. I also read they rarely do the maths exam anymore unless they are doing mass hiring in places like the UAE and Qatar ect.
Is it a much more likely chance you will get the job if you have previouse experience as cabin crew and in customer service or hospitality?
Hi Annie!
Your website is really helpful for aspiring yet reluctant people like me. Just a question, do we really need to go through the selection process of IPAMS? I heard they’re quite superficial (looks first before personality) and this is mainly due to the fact that they want to present the best-looking girls for Emirates. Is this true?
I’d appreciate your response.
=)
Nicole
As far as i know..exams given by Emirates (not with the accredited agencies) are all the same..
hi Nic, kindly check this old post;
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=215
yes, you need to go through IPAMS. They are the accredited agency of Emirates.
Hi everyone,
Ok, so it’s the 1st week for me to start waiting for the call to see whether i made it into Emirates Cabin Crew, I know have 3weeks and a few days to wait in anticipation. Im freaking out because everything over the recruitment days went so well but at the end of the final interview, you know how you sit like a final iq test and you put down a start and end time. I ‘think’ I forgot to put an end time down, although the girls saw me come out of the room and cldv put down a time im so scared that this has ruined my chances! what do u think?
JANE
i don’t think that’s such a big issue to consider on loosing your chance to be an Emirates Cabin Crew..let’s just hope for the best.
goodluck!
hi Annie
I just saw ur site while browsing through net–firstly i should say its nice to see people like u helping others selflessly—i jus wana know i have customer service experience of 7 years and my age is 32 i.e. 3rd dec 1976, am i eligible to apply–coz i checked wid other airlines the max age is 27, where as emirates has no mention of age restrictions on there site
thanks and best regards
mustafa
yes..there’s no age restrictions in Emirates.. i saw some applicants who are on their late 30s and still passed the entire application procedures..
I just found this site yesterday and I have been reading through your resources. Thank you for sharing all this information who are hoping to get into Emirates. I have been waiting for Emirates to come to Canada (Toronto) for the past few months. I’ve been so excited to see that they will have Open Days on Feb 21st until two days ago, there’s no links anymore. Does anyone know if they cancelled their recruitments?
Hi Eileen..thank you for visiting this site.. with regards to your question, kindly refer to my latest post..
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=1560
HI Annie…I have been browsing through your site since yesturday…I found it interesting but do u know what nationality is Emirates cabin crew in dubai is looking out for in dubai….Is Emirates cabin crew still lookin out for fligh attendents in dubai itself…..
application in Dubai is used to be in regular basis..but now they put on-hold Assessment & Open Days due to economic issue..
Hi Annie,
its really super nice of you for all your views and assist towards the success to be a cabin crew. i have a few marks on my face. would that be aproblem. i have an interview on the 27th, what can i do to cover them or get rid of them?? will this be an issue??
Please advice
Thanking you in advance
Mike
Hi Mike..
During my brother’s Open Day with EMirates, he has some marked of old pimples in his face..he just concealed it with a nice concealer (make-up)
i know men are not into this..but thats the only way you can deal it..asked a girl to teach you how to do it..
Interview in 27? is that final interview..as far as i know, Emirates application schedules were put on-hold..check my latest post..
