This question can be frequently seen in the comment section of my posts under the 5th category. Many aspiring cabin crews are so nervous to attend Emirates selection day due to teeth issues. They believe that in order to qualify to be a flight attendant a certain individual must have perfect teeth. No!

We used to have such belief in mind until we met some flight attendant friends in Bahrain. They told us the real situation & what’s the real deal with this teeth issue. After learning this, MGA was motivated enough to conquer the scheduled Emirates Selection Day in Bahrain & luckily he went thru the entire process with flying colors. Now, MGA is enjoying the fabulous life of being a flight attendant.

So, what’s the real deal with teeth?

As per reference of the Emirates’ Medical Requirements here are the dental standards expected:

  • Teeth should be free from carries & all necessary fillings completed.
  • Roots etc. should have been removed. Sockets clean, uninfected & healthy.
  • Temporary dressings are NOT acceptable.
  • Gums & oral cavity to be free from infection or disease.
  • Teeth should be free from plaque.
  • Good level of periodontal health.
  • Crown & bridgework, if present, should be in good condition.
  • Gaps/missing teeth do not need to be replaced by bridges etc. If posterior & unnoticeable.
  • Dentures, if applicable, should be in good condition & fit properly.
  • Root canal treatments complete & satisfactory.
  • Wisdom teeth which are normally symptom-free (i.e. which do not compromise adjacent teeth or which do not create recurrent infections) do NOT require removal.
  • Dentition should be of cosmetically acceptable appearance – Cabin Crew.
